I'm always writing something that can be labeled "fantasy." It's my favorite genre and played a huge part in my growing up.*WARNING: UNASHAMED SELF-PROMOTION*My current project is called…Continue

What fantasy book are you reading now?

I'm currently revisiting Roger Zelazny's Chronicles of Amber. It's kind of a hybrid scifi/fantasy - a bit dated (kind of like watching Mad Men as far as gender roles go) - but enjoyable. It's been…Continue

If I could choose one word to describe Mistborn, it's be "fun." You're right Christine, the writing isn't the best, but they are entertaining.

Loved the Mistborn books. I haven't gotten to Alloy of Law yet, however. I wouldn't say the writing is the best, though I quite like Sanderson's storytelling. Then again, who am I to decide good writing? :)

I agree - the first three totally sucked me in.

David, here's a linky to Sanderson's Mistborn page. The magic system is unique in that people ingest metals and then "burn" them to achieve an effect. The books are very gritty and action oriented, but they also have the traditional fantasy themes of "good vs evil" and "small time person saves the world."

I think I read all three books of the original series in a week - they just sucked me right in.

I haven't read those books. Something worth checking into?

I just finished Brandon Sanderson's "Alloy of Law." Has anybody else read his Mistborn books?
