NaNoWriMo Writers

National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing.

Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.

By now we've all shifted in a certain groove. We're either enjoying the wind in our sails as the ticker on the word counter keeps ticking away. Happily. Some of us may be starting at white screens.…Continue

Am not ready to win tomorrow (you are a monster) I will however be verifying my work on the 31st or as soon as I punch out another 10k.

So who is ready to win tomorrow, and who will be verifying their work on the 31st at 11 p.m.?

Amber - I've had a near stranger beta read mine. He's a writer I found online, I've been commenting his work, he's been reading mine. It was really interesting. He really focused on the details (commas, punctuation, and shit) but all in all he pretty much gave the confidence in knowing I had a story in my hands. I've had old friends from school read it, my husband (he cried, if you knew him you'd be shocked by this), friends, my niece and other writers.

I'm at the point where the beta reads are closed off. That way I run with my idea and not be influenced or anything else...

I've been thinking a lot lately about using more beta readers. I've never used "strangers" to beta read my novels. Do you use them? Do you swear by them or could live without? I'll admit, someone I don't know reading my book before I consider it "ready" terrifies me!

My word count took a huge hit over the weekend.  I always suspected it before, but now I know ... I am not meant to be a soccer mom.  It digs into my writing time.

Current count:  20,152 (30,000 goal)

That's an awesome word count Joe! My word count is hurting this weekend. But its ok though, I'll get it going again,

I'm here!  I'm here!

It's been a brutal few days.  A chapter I was bored with, even as I wrote it.  A big relationship crises for my characters.  Word count woes.  Ugh.  And Staycation 2013 is over.  Back to work, tomorrow.  Double-ugh.

39,533/60,000 though.  :)

Where did everyone go? It's like I looked up from my laptop and everyone had left without saying goodbye...
